armageddon is a battle in which satan unites the kings of the earth against god's appointed king, christ.. the witnesses teach that the bible uses megiddo as the "symbolic" place of gathering of all the kings of the earth, where they will try to do battle against god and his forces.. it sounds so silly to me now that god and his forces would battle satan?
if god is so powerful, wouldn't he make satan and his demons just disappear?
does god need a sword, rocket, fist,or army tanks to destroy satan?.
As I've always understood it, it's God's war and his design. Therefore, it's silly for mere humans to speculate on this issue.
Our job is to keep on preaching, making disciples, and being the best at following Jesus Christ teachings.

this weekend at the circuit assembly, (i stayed home, thank goodness), i heard a nine year -old girl was baptized.
and she seems a bit mature for her age, but hardly mature enough,in my opinion, to make such a choice on her own.
it seems to be a trend in our circuit right now.
I'm with you on this one topic. Jesus Christ, our model and savior, waited 'til full maturity to be babtized.
Anyone that hasn't made it through puberty, who's in the view of many states and countries hasn't reached a level of maturity to drink alcohol, or even to hold a driver's license, such person is not fit to make such a strong decision as baptism in any faith!
In this regard, anyone baptized prior to a full mature age, is equivalent to the practice of baptizing infants.
Kids don't know what the heck they're doing! They're just doing it to please their parents, or to make the brothers at the KH proud, etc.

Hurrrrrraaaaaayyyyy!!!!!!!!!!
No comments on this. But post one one death and every member of this board will jump at it!
I tell you, for every death due to lack of blood acceptance, which more than likely the person would have died anyway whether they took the blood or not (like it happened to this person in our cong., that got weak and accepted the blood, then died a few days later anyway), there are thousands of successful bloodless interventions!!!
Yeap, yeap, hurray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's very interesting comparing things that are removed.
for one, new world order and new world, new order, all being eliminated from everything.
just research nwo, "new world order", etc, to see.
"To everything there's a reason and a season"... Isn't that how a really nice song goes?
Big deal! Can you just not agonize over this?! The new songs and rhythms are very nice thus far.
Try and highlight the positive in things. All things.

new songbook - removing all the old teachings and anything saying new world or new order.
no more bookstudies - (so no small indepedent comments, only brief congregationwide so not much discussion).
bible reading talk can 'read' only, no introduction or conclusion - again not allowing any input or thought.
I've really enjoyed all these changes! The Organization is also leaving a whole bunch of decisions up to the individual's conscience. It's great!
I see it as evolving into a more democratic religious system more and more. Wonderful! I feel much more comfortable in it these days, than ever before.

i totally appreciate the posters who have a ton of bible knowledge and love research, but me being a witness for a few decades find myself not really interested in many of the discussions here and at the meeting.
the current "grace/undeserved kindness" post by sir82 is a prime example.. first off i do know that my personality is to be sceptical about most things, and i usually focus on things that i can see or are more simple, especially if it is a topic i am less interested in.. but am i bad because i don't really care if jesus died on a cross of stake?
or i am not interested in trying to figure out when (and if ) jehovah is going to take care of wicked people or resurrect dead people........ i kind of figure we will find out when it happens.. sometimes if feel stupid about bible things, but i take pride in trying to live by the basic bible principles and laws (about stealing, adultery, bad language, etc), although i do have a good deal of general knowledge about the bible, i could care less about breaking down the different "loves" in the hebrew language or greek language, or whatever..... i guess i have a similar knowledge of the scriptures as the "christians" before the wts "helped us figure it out" starting around 1900. .
No, you're not bad. I also like to just stick to the basic Bible principles of 'being good and doing good'; all the other 'deep' stuff, I couldn't care less about it.

at my place of business which i own, i have discovered that the local jw's have taken to dropping in magazines, brocheres etc.
the staff accept them just to be polite but arn't interested.
but you know the deluded jw's... my business has quickly turned into someones magazine route!.
Just say the word and it'll go away. I used to drop off literature at some places of business where the public would frequent, and once was asked by the attendant not to do it any longer, and that was it. No more.
Just say the word. These days the Organization is not so much into shoving down the throat if people present an objection. Very relaxed these last days. I really enjoy it that way.

hi all, i left the wts in the late `80s, i`ve not really given them a thought, until one sleepless night recently i was trawling the `tinterweb, and came across various videos on youtube.
anyway`s, the reasons i left were many and varied, and one day i`ll sit down and relate them, but two things have always stuck in my mind, once i was asked "if someone could convince you that without a doubt "the truth" was wrong, would you believe them?
", to which i answered "of course i would", - that was me marked.
As an Organization, yes, they discourage any donations other than to themselves. However, at a personal level, there are many JWs that do donate to different charities. So, it's not fair at all to generalize. I contribute whenever asked to cancer-related charities.

i left off on my first posts on this topic with this sentence: one of the big discoveries and the genesis of my semi-apostate ways came one day when i decided to look up some of the books cited in the reasoning from the scriptures book (almost 99% of the works cited by the society were available at the universitys library).
the research that was meant to solidify my faith in the jw religion, actually made the first crack on the foundation of my faith.. .
cont..... .
I sincerely hope you'll do well in your post-JW life. May you find spiritual fulfillment elsewhere. Sincerely.
